experience at school. We will focus on a well-rounded curriculum related to rigor, relevance,

and relationships. The following “at a glance” guidelines are offered to assist students

and their parents/guardians in understanding behavior expectations for students.

Here’s to yet another successful year at East Bakersfield High School!

OUR MOTTO:In School…In Class…On Time…On Task!

CONDUCT:

Since 1938, East High students have always been known for their courteous, respectful behavior.  Please remember the following:

  • Use appropriate language at all times.  Profane, vulgar or abusive language is NEVER appropriate on a school campus, and it is subject to disciplinary action.

  • In the classroom — and on campus, students are always expected to cooperate with staff requests and/or school policy.  Refusal to cooperate with any staff member is considered defiance and will result in disciplinary action, which can include suspension – or even expulsion.

  • At school–causing damage to school property (tagging), fights, and/or usage or possession of a controlled substance can result in suspension, expulsion and/or arrest on the first offense, depending on circumstance and/or specifics of the case.

CLOSED CAMPUS:

East Bakersfield High School is a CLOSED CAMPUS throughout the day.  ALL ACCESS GATES WILL BE LOCKED AT THE BEGINNING OF FIRST PERIOD. Late students must enter through the Attendance Office.  Students may not leave campus at any time during the school day without parent/guardian permission.

  • Off-campus permits must be obtained from the attendance office in advance. If a student needs to leave campus for any reason, parent/guardian must give permission and an off campus pass must be issued before leaving campus.  Failure to do so will result in a “cut” and/or further discipline.

  • EBHS has announced and unannounced tardy sweeps. Students found to be in violation of the tardy policy may be given detention, Saturday Work, campus beautification and/or other discipline as determined by administration.

  • Off campus lunch passes will NOT be granted.  Delivery of off-campus food is not allowed.

  • Students who do not have a 1st or 7th period class should not be on campus.

  • All students require a security escort for restroom breaks during the class period.  The school also uses the 15/15 rule:  No student is allowed to leave the classroom during the first and last 15 minutes of the class period.

STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS:

Students are to have their ID cards in their possession AT ALL TIMES during school hours or while attending school sponsored events.   All students are expected to produce their student ID cards upon staff request.  ID cards will be provided to all students at the beginning of the school year.
